YoGo Ball
Program Philosophy
The philosophy of the program is built on the belief that each child has something special to offer. Physical education seeks to bring “performance” levels of kids up by standardizing programs with a one size fits all approach, there are fewer and fewer easily accessible outlets which promote a holistic approach to fitness. YoGo Ball is an exceptional program dedicated to building kids self esteem in everyday life as well as linking Fitness with Self Care.
This program has been developed as an extension, not an alternative, to existing after school activities such as soccer, gymnastics, ballet, etc. In fact, it is designed to help kids become even better at what they already love. By empowering our children with tools, fitness interwoven with social skills, we believe their own unique gifts will readily unfold. Our goal is to foster a sense of self worth and well being so that children in turn will better manage their own day-to-day interactions with others. To do this, we have developed a series of exercises and activities based on ancient art of yoga, which also integrates modern balancing techniques on the physio fitness balls, as well as games that promote partnership, leadership and group interaction. At the center of each discipline is the concept of promoting “self-care”, and improved body mechanics, so that kids develop a healthy relationship with their body.
What is YoGo Ball:
Programs consists of a series set of exercises/activities tied to
3 main areas-physical, mental, and spiritual. Exercises integrate
yoga, balancing work on balls, gaming aspects, martial arts, and rhythm; Brain teasers are lightly interspersed to educate kids on nutrition and basic anatomy.
- Each child works at their own level to achieve strength, coordination, flexibility, and centered calmness.
- The through line is team work and community-needs i.e. relay races, obstacle courses, games while each child is encouraged do their best to support their group
- Brainacs: Nutrition, and Basic Anatomy are interspersed to enhance awareness of the whole body
- Totems or Power Animals will be used in yoga to represent different aspects physical, mental and spiritual body
- At the end of a four week series parents and friends are invited to come watch a demonstration.
